Frequently Asked Questions
About Stewardship
How can I make a gift?

The General Fund   (where needed most)

Benevolent Care   (covers unfunded services provided to residents with limited
           resources)

Endowment Fund   (your gift is invested in perpetuity and the income it produces is
            used for benevolent care)

Building Fund   (supports the cost of major improvements and expansion planned for
       the campus)

Special Projects   (supports projects like the Dining Room Tables & Chairs Project)

Memorial or Honor Gifts   (gifts made in memory of a lost loved one or in honor of a
living person can be designated to any of the above uses)

Is my gift to benevolent care or the Endowment Fund applied to a specific
resident?

Due to matters of confidentiality and regulatory requirements, CCC cannot apply a
gift toward a specific individual or billing account. Such gifts made for this purpose
are applied to our General Fund to help cover the cost of services that are not
reimbursed by federal or state third party payment programs.

If I have made a gift but did not receive an acknowledgement or an incorrect
acknowledgement, what should I do?

In this event, please contact the Business Office at 717-867-4636 to inform us of the
situation.  We will research our records and make an appropriate acknowledgement
in consultation with you.

Since you receive payment from federal and/or state programs for those
with depleted resources, why do you need additional benevolent support?

These third party government programs apply various limits on their reimbursement
to control increasing demands upon limited government resources.  In addition,
sometimes these programs do not fund the full cost of service for the level of quality
provided by CCC and other respected health care providers.  Typically these
programs fall short in covering the actual cost of care u
p to $80 per day for each
resident using such funding programs.  This extensive shortfall causes us to rely
upon contributions and Endowment Income to help cover this shortfall.

How is CCC held accountable for my gifts?

The operations of CCC are administered by a volunteer Board of Directors which are
approved by the Annual Conference of the United Christian Church or the Trustees
of the United Christian Church.  Our financial activities are audited annually by a CPA
firm experienced in the long-term care field.  We are obligated to and comply
annually with regulatory requirements for various governmental agencies including
the PA Dept. of Public Welfare, PA Dept. of Health and the PA Dept. of Insurance to
name a few.  Any donor may request a disclosure statement for review which
provides details related to our financial stability, our organization and services.

Is donor information shared with others?

It is our practice to maintain the confidentiality of donor records.  Typically we publish
only the names of donors.  Any other information related to addresses, phone
numbers, email addresses, gift amounts or gift purpose designations are not
publicized.  We do not share donor information with outside organizations or those
within CCC that are not involved in the processing of each gift.  Donors may request
that their name also be kept anonymous in donor recognition publications.

Why is  CCC very cautious with recognition of donors and fund raising
requests?

It is our Biblical belief that God blesses the willing motive of donors to help others.
The actual blessings that a gift brings to others should be the focus of a gift rather
than the self-recognition or pride that can arise, particularly with large donor gifts.
We do not publish the intended individuals noted for Memorial or Honor Gifts in
respect for other residents that may not receive similar recognition by donors.

Doesn't the Auxiliary help meet CCC's needs?

The CCC Auxiliary is a most helpful and faithful organization of volunteers regularly
providing contributions, gifts, time and many other benefits directly impacting the
quality of life for all residents.  Their resources in dollars and volunteers are however
limited making them unable to meet all the tremendous needs we face each year.
The Auxiliary is an excellent way to help this ministry for those with limited financial
resources but having the time and ability to help in more personal ways.
